It's always hard no matter what we wear, there's always someone with a problem. I personally enjoy dressing up and going out, and even dressing up and staying in. Im all for the dopamine dressing.
I think comfort dressing is the most powerful. Anyone can look sharp in a three-piece suit. Try doing it with an out-of-bed look wearing one's well-worn night clothes and still command the room.
It was a short read but carried so much subtance. While I do notice how these things work and always question them, this one still brought a lot of new things to my attention. My girlfriend is always conscious of what she wears, and while I initially asked her not to pay much mind to it, I stopped doing that and trusted her intuition. Her consciousness has her reasons. Thank you for making me understand them better. I always thought I should aid her in dropping a lot of bs thinking and dress how she wishes. However, the fact that no place is safe, even intellectual ones (they can in fact, be more dangerous), will always be a factor. Thank you once again, Uthara. Loved it like always.
This article is timely!! I had found the perfect top for a work uniform and bought ~5 of these pussy-bow tops to mix and match with various blue/black trousers. Thought I had power + feminine dressing all figured out. Today, I find out that this was a regular style of Margaret Thatcher (I work in London). For the uninitiated - people here have fierce love/hate towards her and I do not really want to kindle any such feelings in my colleagues. I am not sure how to deal with this new information now!!
I feel like 2023 is unintentionally the most Thatcher-ist (if its a word) time in history. Amazing how a pussy bow blouse is a totem for free-markets + privatisation LOL.

Thanks, Anvita! Agreed, it's hard to win. I've never heard of dopamine dressing. A whole new thing to nerd out on.

I have not as yet seen this happen. But I reckon the Obama/Zuckerberg decision fatigue + clothing choice thing comes close.

Hey Blake! Yes I reckon your girlfriend's intuition is spot on. It's striking how this becomes a bodily intelligence thing beyond a point.
(Also, can confirm that intellectual spaces are often hyper masculine and extraordinarily judgy!)
